With all the recent changes to life, pressure is naturally increased on the couple relationship. Just the simple reality that quarantine means we share the same space for more hours of the day can be good or bad. Our emotional limits are being tested and how we react determines if we are building or injuring the relationship.
This series of "Love in theTime of COVID" has been created to address personal daily functioning in times of crisis. It is a unique opportunity to rediscover yourself in the couple relationship. The main focus is the couple relationship but many of the topics discussed readily translate to other relationships in our life such as parent/child and employer/employee. Anyone is welcome to participate. The series includes all 4 sessions as the concepts build on the previous sessions.
The series will begin with a discussion on brain functioning and how it affects our perspective and interactions with our partner. The different areas of the brain will be explained and how we can maximize the time in these areas in productive ways.
In the second discussion, how we communicate will be explored. The topic will be discussed in terms of delivery. How to engage with your partner in inviting ways that communicates you're a safe person to connect with.
So often the knee jerk reaction to problems is to fix them so the problem goes away and life can go back to normal. In this session we learn how to connect during or despite conflict and how to manage perpetual problems that exist in every relationship. Connection is key.
Keeping the conversation going. The definition of intimacy is different for everyone. During this session, the topic of intimacy will be expanded to include all the types and ways of connecting with your partner.
